In 1974, a small group of concerned citizens met in a local living room, worried about the destruction of Rockville’s historic buildings between the then recent obliteration of our original main street and new threats along West Montgomery Avenue.

In the intervening fifty years, Peerless Rockville has been at the forefront of preserving Rockville’s historic resources, sharing the stories of Rockville’s people and places, and collecting the images, artifacts, and local knowledge that make up our City’s past and present for the benefit of the future.

In the upcoming months, we will celebrate fifty years of saving places, researching Rockville’s history, and building an inclusive community that knows where it came from and recognizes the important contributions and unique experiences of our diverse population.
